Thread: The importance of FOLIC ACID

  1. #136
Are they pregnacare? As long as you're taking something with either folate or folic acid in. Folic acid is water soluble and won't affect breastfeeding. I'm taking my 5mg while still feeding dd.

Oh and don't wait. The sooner folic acid gets into your system for ttc the better. Most Dr recommended taking it for 3 months prior to ttc.

There's no need to hold off on it unless you really want to. Is start taking those, pregnacare which is pretty much the same suits the whole way through ttc and pregnancy.

Not planning on TTC yet, but was mainly thinking about the problems I had post natally with Freyja. She basically sapped me of my folic acid supplies and I was left with Folic Acid Deficiency Anaemia. I was on 5mg folic acid for a month but no further blood tests were done. Would I need to be on 5mg next time throughout pregnancy do you recon? I keep meaning to book a follow up as Im still having symptoms of it but keep forgetting to!

It mightn't be a bad idea to chat to your Dr about it. If you're like me, perhaps your body doesn't absorb folic acid very well and I need a high dose in order to get even some to stay in my system. I know the 5mg needs prescribed.

Pruep, none of the midwives or Dr I've seen in this pregnancy who are aware I'm feeding dd still have said anything like that. I don't see how it can when it is in the breastfeeding pregnacare.

extreme tiredness, depression, become breathless easily (got to the end of the street today when it started and I walk most days), im always pale, I have tinnitus (had it for years though it has got worse since having Freyja, but I put it down to aspartame poisoning to begin with), frequent headaches and palpatations.

Do you take anything for it? I take a daily chewable vitamin b tablet which I find helps me.

Yeh that's what I thought! She stood and compared the ingredients and said ttc had higher folic acid but surely that's obvious why!
I don't know why I'm worrying I've got months until I'm duffaged anyway!
