Newly single

My husband of 10 years has left. He had an affair and I've asked him to leave. It's unclear to me yet whether he will end up with the other woman or not at the moment.
That aside...
I have two beautiful boys - ages 1 and 5 - to focus on. I'm terrified about being a single mum but I have no choice.

I'm newly single too and have a 2year old (she's two today). My situation is different as I ended the marriage due to various issues. At the moment we are still living in the same place but I've applied for council housing so I can move out. I understand about it being scary being on your own. But I'm sure you will be fine and come out stronger. X

It takes a while to adjust. And sometimes I do still get the 'gah I should have a partner here to support me rather than doing everything by myself. The bastard' moments. But to be honest the majority of the time u don't even really think about it anymore. It's just... How it is. And I like how it is

Newly single as of today. Hubby is a gambling addict and let's just say he placed one bet too many (that's putting it kindly). At the moment I am waiting for him to actually leave as he is trying to sort out somewhere to stay. I'm a bit all over the place. Have two small kids. 2 and 1. I am petrified tbh.

This area does tend to be quite quiet unfortunately. Hope you're ok Muddles. It'll be a bit if a blur for a while and very scary, but you will be fine..... In fact one it's all sunk in and the practical changes have been dealt with, I'll hazard a guess that you will be much, much happier and life will be a lot easier x

The best thing is the quiet. The first thing I did was change the bed to get rid of his smell, then I lounged on the settee in silence and read my book. No more dramas or tension.

Not great. Long story but giving it one last ditch effort to give him chance to prove himself, and at the same time sort my **** out Secure my home in my name, change my will, look into my entitlements and allow myself to process it all. Not "together" right now but he hasn't moved out. Not looking good though. He is making some effort, but is generally still being a selfish ass. The writing is on the wall.

I'm so unhappy and lonely, but have so much to deal with (house build finishing in June) and my health hasn't been wonderful. I know it will happen, properly. I just need to pick the right time. Having another counselling session in a few weeks so that might help focus the mind. I know I did the right thing in allowing him to stay as because he is still being horrible to live with I will be 100% sure in my decision now and won't be wondering "Could hitting rock bottom be the wake up call for him to turn things around?". He is fast slipping back to his old ways so I know I cant live with it. Just securing my position now legally etc. in case it turns nasty.

It's so hard knowing when to just completely absolve yourself of responsibility for a partner like that. Hope your counselling session goes well.
