Help! My cat has rejected her only surviving kitten

Hey guys. I need some help. My cat gave birth in the middle of the night. She had 4 in total but unfortunately only one survived. It is a gorgeous little thing but my cat is being weird!! She won't feed or keep the kitten warm. She keeps wanting to take it and just leave it in the middle of the floor and then she settles down somewhere comfy just leaving the kitten. We have bought kitten formula and are trying to hand feed it but it's not taking it. I'm scared it's going to die

i hate to say this but cats seem to know if a kitten wont make it and nature is very cruel here is a great site for help if you can you will need to feed and clean the kitten very regularly http://www.fabcats.org/owners/kittens/handrearing.html i hope you can manage it and if i can help in any way please do let me know xxx

Spoiling comes from overindulging wants, like toys, candy and television. Not from meeting needs. And definitely not from loving your baby. The Other Baby Book (you know, the one you SHOULD read)Feb 2013.

Another way would have been to stroke the cat until she lays down and chill and put the kitten on to suckle, it could have sparked the maternal instinct. I did tgis with an orphanrd baby rabbit as its impossible to recreate mums milk. Has she had kittens before, how old is she? Xx

Mum and Kitty have both been to the vets tonight. They have given me lots of advice and they are cuddled up together at the moment FX this is a sign of things getting better. She hasn't had a litter before, she is only 10 months old. I tried putting the kitten on to feed, it seemed to work but the vet told me to just leave her to it. Hopefully, little kitty will be ok x Thank you for your replies x

She would have known there was something wrong with the kitten - hence why she kept leaving her.

Im glad to hear they are both doing well tho now.

Im a breeder so any probs let me know and I will help where I can
