    Baby led weening...spam me with info!

    My little one is only 11 wks but a friend has a 6 month old and will be doing BLW. I have limited knowledge and didn't want to risk googling and getting daft or scary info.

    My friend has said it's really good for helping with speech development???

    Any info, advice or links welcome. Especially first hand experience, good or bad.

    Thank you x

    I got the Gill Rapley book from Amazon and would recommend it. We still spoon fed a couple of things. She advises letting them feed themselves everything but I found that unpractical. Winston spent two months just throwing his food all over and rubbing it into his hair and then suddenly, at eight months he started eating very well and very purposefully so you do need to persevere and don't allow yourself to panic they're not eating enough. Food before one is just for fun and all that. I love watching my friends wrestling green sludge down their kids when we go out but I can just hand Winston a sandwich and a salad and leave him to it. He's nearly 10m and hardly makes any mess now. You think they'll never get the hand of it but they'll surprise you.

    Another vote for the Gil Rapley book - I just got it from the local library. Honestly, the whole concept is so easy, I can't believe they were able to write a whole book about it!

    Indeed. I don't think I even read half of it. I just got the general idea and got on with it. Didn't follow it too closely.

    I found the baddies book very interesting to read. But agree you could write it all in a leaflet or small booklet it's so straight forward :lol;

    We didn't spoon anything including porridge and yoghurts etc until he was over a year, but I just admit that last night I spoon fed him a whole yoghurt don't tell but now I know he really wouldn't eat it if he didn't want to so not worried about forcing it on him He wouldn't let me spoon feed him now if he a) didn't want it or b) wanted to spoon feed himself.

    Also be prepared for mess, sure some babies are very tidy but others like my monkey make loads of mess, but it's all part of the fun
